Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS) lets you specify how you want your data stored in it. All you have to do is select a storage type and define a storage amount when you are creating or modifying a database (DB) instance. You can later increase the amount or change the storage type by modifying the DB instance. But once allocated, you cannot reduce the storage size for a DB instance.

It is important for every user to be aware of the allocated storage limit for their RDS DB instance so that they do not exhaust the storage amount beyond the defined limit. Breaching RDS storage limits can have a negative impact on the overall health of your cloud.

Amazon RDS DB instance is the basic building block of RDS which can contain multiple databases created by the user. AWS allocates limited storage capacity for your RDS database instances. It becomes essential to keep track of this storage capacity service limit of your RDS database instance. If the database instance storage is used up beyond the allocated capacity then, there are certain possibilities of performance hiccups in database query processing.

Severity Description
CRITICAL This indication will be displayed when the user has breached 100% of the specified limit of the corresponding resource.
WARNING This indication will be displayed when the user has breached 80% of the specified limit of the corresponding resource.
OK You get this indication when the user consumes less than 80% of the specified limit of the corresponding resource.

  5. Current usage: This column shows the current usage level of the corresponding resource.current usage

Filters applicable:

Filter Name Description
Account Id Applying the account Id filter will display all the resources for the selected account Id.
Region Applying the region filter will display all the resources corresponding to the selected region.
Severity Applying severity filter will display the resources according to the selected severity type i.e. selecting critical will display all resources with critical severity. Same will be the case for Warning and Ok severity types.
